Building up children through the power of music

‘Build it Up Music Therapy’ is a mobile practice supporting the development and wellbeing of young children throughout Eastern Melbourne, including the council areas of Whitehorse, Maroondah, Manningham, Yarra Ranges and Knox City. Joshua Birch, the company’s director and a Registered Music Therapist (RMT), provides two specialised services; working privately with families of children with disabilities and delivering a music therapy group program to local early learning centres and primary schools.

With over 10 years of experience in childhood education and early intervention, Josh is passionate about using the evidence-based strategies of music therapy to support speech and language, social communication, emotional regulation, motor skills, and cognition. Josh is not only friendly and approachable, but he is also a highly trained and knowledgeable clinician who has the ability to effectively respond to the needs of families, childcares, kindergartens and schools. More than just a fun and creative service, ‘Build it Up Music Therapy’ works closely with parents and educators so they may also effectively draw upon music as a resource that can be incorporated into everyday activities.
